Targets: Lower Abs · Hip Flexors

Save it for quick access

About the movement

A hanging core movement that crushes your lower abs. You also get a grip and shoulder endurance bonus just from hanging.

How to do it

  1. 1

Hang from a pull-up bar with arms fully extended and shoulders active.

  2. 2

Without swinging, raise your legs until they are parallel to the floor or higher.

  3. 3

Pause briefly at the top, then lower your legs under control.

  4. 4

Stop the rep the moment you start swinging.

Form tips

  • Keep your legs straight to emphasize the abs; bend knees to make it easier.
  • Do not swing; momentum steals the work from your core.
  • If you cannot raise straight legs, start with knees tucked to your chest.
